It’s HOMECOMING Week! Please check the paper that went home last week for a list of theme days and other activities that are happening this week. Remember, our class can earn points by participating each day. Let’s all do our part to make this an exciting week.

I’m sure you all know that our class song for the lip sync competition will be Superhero by Hillsong Kids. The kids seem to LOVE the song, as I’m asked to practice it about ten times a day. 😂 If your child has a superhero costume, please send it to the school with him/her no later than Wednesday so we can make sure we have everything we need. If you don’t have one, please contact me and we will get it figured out.

Tests this week:

Tuesday - Writing Test 16

Wednesday - Spelling Practice Test List 19

Phonics Test 18

Math Test 17

Thursday - Spelling Test List 19

Friday - Bible Test Psalm 121:1-2

Last week’s Bible test will be graded as a participation grade for in-class practice activities.

Let’s have an incredible week, GO LIONS!! 🦁

Good afternoon! We have a busy week ahead of us as we will be having our normal classroom days and will be preparing for Homecoming 2022. Remember, the order forms and money for Homecoming t-shirts are due this Monday.

Please make sure to log your child onto startpracticing.com for that extra practice that they will need.

Young Writer’s entries are due TUESDAY. This is a requirement for all second grade students.

We are running low on bottled water in our classrooms, if anyone would like to drop off a case, that would be wonderful!

                                         Homecoming 2022

February 7-11

Theme Song: Power by Chris Tomlin

The theme for Homecoming is
“There is Power in the Name of Jesus”

We are using the theme verse as our memory verse for Bible class so we will be able to say it loud and proud when the time comes!

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

Our class will be able to earn points throughout the week by participating in various activities:

• Classes will need to memorize the Bible verse and be ready to recite it anytime the spirit stick appears in their classroom!
• We will prepare a song for the lip sync competition at the pep rally.
• Dress for spirit days…these points add up
• Help collect money for “Spot the Dot.”   It is a fundraiser where we sell “dots” to decorate the outside of our door.  The more dots, the more points!

An overall point winner from the secondary and an overall point winner from the elementary will be gifted a lunch off campus to the restaurant of their choice.

The overall DOT winner will earn a pizza party for their class and a movie afternoon!

I will post information about the theme days at the end of the week.

I sent home a great deal of information this week, so make sure you read over all of the papers that came home in your child's folder. The guidelines for the Young Writer's Contest were among those papers that were sent home this week. Please encourage your child to begin working on their story as soon as possible.  We had our first snow day of the year and I hope you all had fun playing in the snow! Send pictures to my email and I will submit them to the office for possible yearbook photos.

I have several things to inform you of this week, so grab your coffee and read on!

- Please make sure your child comes to class prepared. He/she will need to bring their book bag AND folder everyday. This is becoming a daily issue and it needs to be taken care of sooner rather than later.

-Entries for the Young Writer’s contest are due by Tuesday, February 1st. We will be working on these in class as time allows, but they may also be done at home. If you have any questions about your child’s submission, please let me know.

-NLCA Science Fair will be February 2nd- This is OPTIONAL, but if your child would like to submit a project, let me know by January 23rd and I will give you more information.

-Since there was no school on Friday, we will be making up the tests we were scheduled to take, on Monday. Those tests will be Bible (Matthew 6:9), Phonics Test 14, Math Test 13, and Spelling Test List 15.

-We will be memorizing Matthew 6:10 for our test this FRIDAY.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

-Other tests this FRIDAY will be:

Phonics Test 15, Math Test 14, Spelling Test List 16

Finally, if you have read the blog for this week, send a letter to let me know and I will let your kiddo choose something from the prize box. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
