Another week is in the books and we are moving right along in 2nd Grade!

Please continue to stress the importance of reading directions to your children. It's necessary for them to be able to read AND follow the instructions that they are given.

The BOOK FAIR is this coming week. We will all go down (as a class) on Monday to look at everything they have to offer. If your child would like to purchase something from the fair, please send money with them. Students may bring money Tuesday through Friday, but will only be permitted to go shop those days if they have brought money and intend on purchasing an item.

Tests this week:

Tuesday - Phonics Test 25, Writing Test 23

Wednesday - Math Test 24

Thursday - Practice Spelling Test List 26

Friday - Spelling Test List 26, Bible Test Matthew 5:3-4 "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted."

Homework Policy

In second grade, homework is typically limited to Reading, Spelling, and Bible. However, if classwork is not completed by the end of the day, it must be completed at home for homework. Additionally, it is important for students to practice math facts. This can be done during car rides or playing board games with dice. Make it fun!
Reading - Students will be expected to read 3 nights a week and fill out a reading log.
Spelling - A new list of words will be assigned each week. We will practice these words in class, however, studying at home will help prepare for weekly tests. Students may write out their list at home and bring it back to be counted as bonus points toward their test. One point will be awarded per written list and up to 5 bonus points will be counted toward their test.
